Monro 'The Voice' joins Llanelli Rotary Club
The newest recruit to Llanelli Rotary Club is the 'owner' of one of the most famous voices in Llanelli.
Monro Walters is the voice of the world famous Scarlets of Llanelli, the man who provides a rich baritone commentary to some magical rugby moments.
Mr Walters is the master of the public address service at Parc y Scarlets - and at Stebonheath Park, home of Llanelli AFC (the Reds).
He was welcomed into membership of Llanelli Rotary Club by President Graham Williams (pictured left).
Mr Walters said he was very proud to be joining the second oldest club in Wales.
He added that he was looking forward to making a significant contribution to the work of Llanelli Rotary Club in Llanelli and beyond.
Mr Walters is expanding his career into providing narration and voiceovers for broadcasts and business.
His expertise has enabled him to provide a Welsh speaking voice over for a London based Agency at Trident Studios in Soho, as well as having his “cap” for Wales on a number of occasions as one of the PA people at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for international matches.
He’s also covered many high profile matches in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup, and in 1999 handled the PA in the Rugby World Cup game between Argentina and Samoa at Stradey Park.
A former member of Cor Meibion Llanelli, in 2001 he was part of a prestigious three-week, six-city tour of the USA, not only as a second bass, but as a narrator in themed concerts which reflected the prose and poetry of Wales.
A former teacher and local businessman, he is now developing new skills in voiceover work.
