Lovespoon experts on show at St Fagan's museum

Lovespoon carvers Siôn Llewellyn and David Western will be appearing at St Fagan's, the National Folk Museum of Wales in the museum shop on May 26 as part of "The Lovespoon Carver’s Craft." They'll be creating spoons on the spot, live - 26 May, 11am - 1pm & 2pm - 4pm Siôn is from Bridgend and David is originally from Cardiff and now living in Canada. They are both passionate about their art and ensuring that an age-old tradition remains fresh and vibrant in modern-day life. Siôn was recently commissioned by the museum to create exact replicas of a number of spoons in the collections and these will be on sale during the event. David will be selling copies of his recent books, History of Lovespoons and Fine Art of Carving Lovespoons, which prominently feature many of the spoons housed at St Fagan's. Love is in the air at Aberglasney

Romance will again be in the air at Aberglasney House and Gardens tomorrow (February 14). Following the successful promotion of free lovespoons for St Dwynwen’s Day, the gardens will be repeating the offer tomorrow for St Valentine's Day. “All couples paying to enter the garden on St Valentine’s Day will receive a special gift,” said Aberglasney shop manager Vanessa Bolton. “Over the years, Aberglasney has proved very popular with visitors seeking that extra-special romantic location for St Valentine’s Day. “The gardens at Aberglasney have seen their fair share of marriage proposals and the setting lends itself wonderfully to romance. “To make St Valentine's Day extra special for those looking for romance we will be giving a hand-carved Welsh lovespoon to every couple coming through the turnstiles.” Aberglasney chief executive Roger Evans said he was eagerly looking forward to welcoming couples young and old to the gardens on St Valentine's Day. “As well as being a romant...
