Shopmobility scheme for Carmarthen

A new shopmobility scheme is opening in Carmarthen later this month. The service will operate from Unit 14 in St Catherine’s Walk from June onwards, with a launch planned for the end of May. There will be two open days later this month – on Monday, March 21, and Thursday, March 24, from 10am to 4pm on both days. Organisers are now looking to recruit two part time project workers to staff the unit but will staff with volunteers for the first two open days. Carmarthenshire County Council has supported the scheme and contributed towards the cost. Transport executive board member Cllr Philip Hughes said: “Shopmobility is an excellent scheme which will provide a very valuable service for shoppers with limited mobility. “The county council is pleased to have been able to support this and look forward to it opening.”
