New website launched to help vulnerable children and adults

The safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and adults in Mid and West Wales is the focus of a new website launched this week. The website can be accessed via two addresses - www.cysur.wales and www.cwmpas.wales It has been developed by the regional safeguarding boards for children and adults, CYSUR and CWMPAS. The purpose is to provide an information-sharing hub accessible to members of the public and professional agencies across the whole region – encompassing Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys. Make sure bonfire night doesn’t end up as a damp squib

Carmarthenshire County Council is helping ensure bonfire night doesn’t end up a damp squib. Some 31 outlets across the county have been granted licenses to store and sell fireworks for 2016, and Trading Standards officers have been busy inspecting premises to ensure fireworks meet safety standards, are stored safely, and are only sold to people aged over 18. The council is also helping to share important safety messages as part of Operation Bang (#OpBANG) – a Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership initiative which ensures a joint approach to safety and policing over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period. Whilst people are being encouraged to attend organised displays, anyone who does wish to purchase their own fireworks is advised to only buy through an approved seller which will have been inspected by Trading Standards officers. Launch of ‘Rescue 365’ - new company specialising in health and safety training and advice

Today, saw the official launch of ‘Rescue 365’, a community interest company that specialises in providing Health and Safety Training and Advice. Based in Carmarthen in West Wales, Rescue 365 provides training and consultancy in many areas including health and safety, first aid, fire safety, working at height and water rescue, as well as bespoke solutions depending on the client’s needs.  Rescue 365 is a Community Interest Company run by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. As a community interest company, profits are reinvested back into Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) community safety initiatives, or the wider community. In just its first few months, Rescue 365 has seen rapid growth with clients ranging from global companies such as TATA Steel and RWE in the private sector, as well as local authorities and education providers right across Wales and England. Carmarthenshire A-level students told to celebrate safely

Students in Carmarthenshire are being urged to not to get carried away celebrating success at their A-level. The Community Safety Partnership wants to ensure students enjoy a safe and trouble-free enjoyment and don’t get carried away to A&E or the cells! The 18-year-olds are being urged to ‘Think Safe, Drink Safe’ next Thursday after picking up their A-level results – and those still under 18 are being reminded to have an alcohol-free celebration. They are also being urged to stay out of rivers and lakes, and not to go into the sea if they have been drinking. The Community Safety Partnership wants to ensure students enjoy a safe and trouble-free post-results celebration. Young adults are being reminded of the harmful effects of drink including alcoholic poisoning, hangovers, and reckless or anti-social behaviour.
