Staff at Jenkins Bakery shops in Llanelli and the rest of South West Wales have collected a magnificent £3,200 for Cancer Research UK. The money was raised during a special summer fundraising campaign when pink cup cakes were on sale at Jenkins Bakery shops. The company made a charity donation of 10p or every cake sold and customers added to the sum by making their own contributions. Jenkins Bakery staff also organised special fundraising events. “The Pink campaign in our shops was a huge success,” said Jenkins Bakery area manager Fiona Snook. "Members of staff dressed up in a pink theme and the shops were decorated to add to the party spirit. “Our loyal customers were, of course, fantastic and hugely supportive of the campaign, with generous donations to Cancer Research. For such a shy and retiring guy, Paul Potts knows how to make big statements on the stage. His guest appearance for Côr Curiad’s anniversary took off like a jet-fighter on afterburn as he launched himself into Lara’s classic Granada. It was a ‘full-on’ rendition which left the full house at Llanelli’s Selwyn Samuel Centre gasping for breath. The Paul Potts engine was working on full throttle and he served up a first-half set which included no less than seven different songs. Swansea Grand Theatre has announced that television celebrity, Dancing on Ice Judge, and West End theatre sensation Louie Spence will star as Spirit of the Beans in this year’s magical family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk. An accomplished dancer and actor, Louie became a household name when he appeared on Sky1's smash-hit series Pineapple Dance Studios. Swansea City pitch announcer, Kevin Johns MBE, is the star of a new Barclays short film profiling individuals who represent the true spirit of the game. The film introduces the charismatic Kevin and follows him during the first game of the Barclays Premier League season as Swansea take on Burnley at the Liberty Stadium. It showcases his role in lifting the crowd, who he describes as the 12th man, before every home game and the passion he puts into his performances. The film is the second in the ‘Spirit of the Game Heroes’ campaign, which chronicles those who make the Barclays Premier League what it is. Barclays asked every Premier League club in the country to nominate one person who best represented the passion behind their club. Swansea City nominated Kevin because of the passion he brings to the match day experience and his place in Swansea City folk law. Top names from the fashion and creative industries will combine their talents to bring a stunning evening of entertainment in aid of charity to Swansea on Saturday March 10. The sparkling event, which is hosted at The City Temple, Dyfatty Street, at 7pm, will see the auditorium transformed into a catwalk as models showcase the latest collections from Next, Warehouse, Tom’s and high end independent boutiques Samantha K, Rhapsody, Nanette’s plus others.
