Rugby players in the Under-18 Pembrokeshire Schools Academy will have wings on their back this season thanks to Red Kite Law. The legal firm has taken the wraps off its sponsorship of the Under-18 Pembrokeshire Schools Academy. “Supporting local people and helping youngsters in the community is a passion at Red Kite Law,” said James Subbiani, a partner at the firm. Mr Subbiani attended the Under-18 Pembrokeshire Schools Academy pre-season friendly game against Cowbridge at Whitland RFC to make the presentation of the first team kit. “We are delighted to see the Red Kite Law logo on the back of the shirts,” said Mr Subbiani. “Here’s hoping the new kit gives the team that little bit of extra lift to take them to success in the new season.” Jonny Llewhellin, WRU development officer for Pembrokeshire, thanked Red Kite Law for their sponsorship. Cwmgors RFC have lifted the SWALEC Division 4 South West trophy after a convincing (34 – 7) home win over Pyle RFC last week (Wednesday 14th May 2014). The win came as a relief for the boys, who unexpectedly lost against Cwmavon RFC the week before – going down by four points and keeping the title just out of reach for another week. Despite the hold-up at Cwmavon, Cwmgors have had a great season, winning all but two of the league games that they’ve played. Cwmgors RFC’s league victory has been aided by the impressive boot of fly-half Steff Rees - the club’s top points scorer - who broke a club record this season by scoring 338 points. Rees was also quick on his feet in crossing the gain line as he was also crowned the club’s top try scorer, alongside Lloyd Watson with 11 tries each. New Dock Stars RFC have secured the SWALEC Division 5 West trophy with a 32-8 home win over Cefneithin RFC today (Saturday 26th April 2014). The Llanelli-based side carried off the SWALEC Division 5 West title by reaching an unbeatable 89 points, winning all but one of the league games that they’ve played this season and with three games still remaining. It’s been 32 years since the last silverware at New Dock Stars and the Division 5 West title win is the crowning of three seasons of hard work and dedication. The nucleus of the team has remained consistent over the past three years – with some of the youth squad promoted to the senior squad this year - and the team has been rewarded having led their league opponents for most of the season. BBC Sport - Welsh regions facing 'radical' change warns rugby chief Regional Rugby Wales chairman Stuart Gallacher has warned "radical" changes are needed if Wales' four regions are to survive in "difficult conditions." Wales is suffering a player exodus as Newport Gwent Dragons, Cardiff Blues, Scarlets and Ospreys will operate a £3.5m salary cap next season. Gallacher wants compromises with the Welsh Rugby Union.
