'Queen Victoria' is to open a special art event at The Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Tuesday. The event is part of the 'Art in the Park' event staged at the popular Victorian Festival in Llandrindod Wells. The opening of the art show is being hosted by Kirsty Williams AM in the Oriel Gallery of The Senedd, at 12.15 on November 6. The Lib-Dems Assembly member will be welcoming a very special 'Queen Victoria' from Llandrindod Wells at the start of the exhibition. This year’s Victorian Festival in Llandrindod Wells saw a number of new activities, including the 'Art in the Park' event sponsored by Glasu and Powys County Council. In the best Victorian traditions, artists of all ages and abilities, were invited to work alongside professional artists, in the beautiful Grade II listed Rock Park during Victorian week. Hywel Dda Health Board | Young advocates use their experiences to help others Young people from South Wales have been presented with awards for becoming peer advocates at a ceremony in the Senedd. The 10 young people participating in this pilot, from Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, and Torfaen, will be the first in Wales to hold a peer advocacy qualification. Advocacy is not only about complaints and advice. While advocacy may sometimes include both, it is more about listening and ensuring the wishes and feelings of children and young people are heard regardless of whether the advocate agrees or not. Advocacy is a process which helps someone to speak up for themselves, but it can also include explaining, empowering, representing and navigating complex systems and procedures. The peer advocates may draw on their own experiences to help other young people.

Cor Meibion Llanelli have accepted an invitation to sing at the Wales v Barbarians rugby match at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday, June 2. The choir has also accepted an invitation to sing on the steps of The Senedd building in Cardiff Bay as part of a demonstration against health cuts in Llanelli organised by SOSSPAN, the Save Our Services Action Network for Prince Philip Hospital. The demonstration will take place on Wednesday, May 23. Happy birthday to chorister Peter Griffiths. Darren Millar, Shadow health minister in the Assembly, will be referring to the work of the Healing The Wounds PTSD charity in The Senedd on Wednesday.

Adam Cousins, just 16, is set to travel to The Senedd and shadow Edwina Hart. And that is all the more remarkable because while Adam is keen to expand his knowledge of politics the Minister is keen to learn of his difficulties in dealing with autism. Adam, from Newcastle-Emlyn, is a glowing example of the care system. He has a huge interest in politics and has been given an exciting opportunity to shadow Edwina Hart, Gower AM and Welsh Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science, on November 23. Adam will get the opportunity to speak with the Minister before accompanying her to the National Assembly’s building, The Senedd, where he will spend time observing her from the gallery whilst she participates in discussions with the Assembly. Adam, who lives with foster carers, has a long standing interest in politics. Aberystwyth University is delighted to see that 10 alumni are taking their seats in The Senedd as the Welsh Assembly reconvenes for business. The election returned 10 former Aberystwyth University students - five Plaid Cymru, four Labour and one Liberal Democrat. Four of the 10 AMs were newly elected in the election on 5th May with the remaining six returning for another term in Cardiff Bay. The 10 Assembly Members join 13 Aberystwyth University alumni elected as Members of Parliament during the 2010 General Election.
