Just like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a new £2 million state-of-the-art spa centre is taking shape at the prestigious Lamphey Court Hotel in Pembrokeshire. It was back in April, 2010, when the old spa at the hotel saw one of the most dramatic fires seen in Pembrokeshire for many years. Six fire engines and 45 firefighters from all over the county were called to tackle 15-metre-high flames bursting through the roof of the leisure facility. “It was a hugely dramatic fire which devastated the old spa centre,” said Phil Thomas, manager at the Lamphey Court Hotel near Pembroke. “At the time, it was only the hard work of the fire service that stopped the blaze spreading to the main building, which is, of course, one of the finest Georgian mansion houses in the county.
