The Llanelli charity Links is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with a ball Thursday, September 26, at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli. The star attraction will be a fabulous Meatloaf tribute act. Susie Hamill from Links said: "We are interested in anybody who wants to come along or buy a table. "In the face of this year's difficulties, we would like to make this a truly memorable event as many of our Links members have saved up for this - the more the merrier! "Tickets cost £25 per head for a three course meal. "It would be great if you could support." Links is a mental health project based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. It offers flexible learning opportunities and promotes positive emotional well being." A Llanelli mum has told of her excitement at starting a bright new chapter in her life, thanks to a strong network of help and support. Grace Goddard admits that the past 15 years have been tough, with everyday life throwing down a number of challenges. But now, with the help of Genesis and Links, the 31-year-old is looking forward to fulfilling a lifelong ambition of becoming an established author.Genesis, based within Carmarthenshire County Council, is a European Social Funded project which aims to improve life for families, either because they are unemployed or on a low income. The team has provided support over several months to help Grace build self-esteem and confidence. BBC newsreader Huw Edwards will be Launching the LINKS anthology on Friday 25th November at 12 noon in the Elli Centre, Llanelli. The book, which is made up of contributions from its members, is a creative collection of creative writing, paintings, photographs and pottery. It is about the journey of empowerment through theraputic activity. There are reflections on illness and recovery. The book aims to show not only the range of activities at LINKS but the quality of work, character and mission to cut through the social stigma and alienation that stems from public misconception. The book, which was sponsored by Llanelli Rural Council, will be available on 25th Nov. and a signed copy can be bought for £5.on the day. The aim of the LINKS project is to support people with mental health problems and to build their confidence and self esteem.
