Dick Whittington comes to Ammanford

Children have enjoyed half term holiday fun at Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli libraries with pantomime favourites Dick Whittington and Alice Fitzwarren. Actors from Jermin Productions, which is staging Dick Whittington, spent time with the children and even joined in a Lego session! Osian and Griff Parry who visited Ammanford Library with their grandmother Sue Parry, who is a library member, are pictured meeting Dick Whittington and Alice Fitzwarren.

Busy half-term for Ammanford Library

Ammanford Library has a busy programme of activities for the half term holidays next week. On Monday October 24 there will be Lego from 10am until 12pm and on Tuesday there will be Halloween Bingo from 10am to 12pm. There will be a free film show, Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom on Wednesday at 10.30am. During the film show the library staff will give free raffle tickets to all children attending and the winner will receive a family ticket to see The Railway Children at the Miners Theatre on Saturday October 29. A Halloween Crafts session has been organised at the library on Thursday October 27 from 10am-12pm and an Active Story Time for pre-school children on Friday October 28 at 2pm. A Halloween Treasure Hunt will be held on Saturday October 29 from 10am to 12pm. All entries will be put in a draw and the lucky winner will receive a family ticket to see Cinderella at the Miners Theatre on Saturday December 10 at 2.30pm.

Bookings being taken for the half term holiday Actif clubs

Bookings are now being taken for the half term holiday Actif clubs in February. Due to a high demand for places at Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford leisure centres, people are being urged to book online early to avoid disappointment. The club aimed at youngsters age 8-12, has a wide range of fun activities including Laser Tag, Snorkelling, Kayaking, Mini Waterpolo, Tri Golf, Splash and Slide and Mini Water Olympics as well as football, rugby, hockey and netball sessions. Our fun packed programme, delivered by trained activity leaders, starts Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 20 from 8.30am to 5pm. Half-term community fun day at Tyisha in Llanelli

A community fun day held during half term attracted families from across the Tyisha ward. The council’s Recycling Advisors organised the event at St Barnabus Hall on Llewellyn Street. As well as fun and games for the children; there was lots of information on recycling , replacement food bins and blue bags. Also in attendance were council housing and road safety officers, the fire service, local police and Communities First with advice including energy efficiency, home repairs and adaptations for the elderly. Community Recycling Advisor Geinor Lewis said: “We had a really successful day; it was a chance for residents to come along and have a chat with us about their recycling scheme and also speak to our partners for advice on a wide range of issues. “As it was held during half term we had fun activities for children and food.” The council received funding from the European Regional Development Fund, through the Welsh Government, for the recycling advisor posts.
