Top marks for Ysgol Dewi Sant school
Pupils at Ysgol Dewi Sant are top of the class when it comes to physical education. Identified as a good practice school through its sporting achievements, seven year six pupils have been selected to take part in a Welsh Government pilot programme. The Physical Literacy Framework initiative is aimed at trying to raise a child’s numeracy skills through physical literacy strategies. For 15 weeks each pupil will spend half a day, once a week doing a variety of tasks with each one completing a circuit session to provide baseline data. They will take part in physical activity sessions and be given information on leading active and healthy lifestyles. The group will also be questioned on their physical educations skills and will record data on spreadsheets and graphs. The pupils will be responsible for counting and working out percentages.
