Carmarthenshire recycling website wins gold award

Recycle for Carmarthenshire – the council’s interactive website to help people reduce and recycle their rubbish – has won gold at the CIPR Wales PRide Awards 2012. The website www.recycleforcarmarthenshire.com won Best Digital Campaign at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations awards, which recognises excellence in public relations and communications. A panel of judges, made up of PR industry experts, said the website was a useful tool for residents with smart features and strong outcomes. The website was launched earlier this year to help residents to recycle and reduce their rubbish. It is packed full of information, news and advice as well as quick links to order more blue bags; request a replacement green bin or find your nearest recycling centre. There is information on all of the council’s waste services as well as advice on real nappies, home composting and reducing your food waste. 'Forget about PR, catch criminals' | This is South Wales Dyfed-Powys Police have been accused of "playing down crime" after an appeal for information about a rape was made seven weeks after the incident. Dyfed-Powys Police launched a nationwide manhunt last week for 25-year-old Abdulsamda Ahmed Raza who is wanted in connection with a sexual assault involving two teenage girls in Llanelli.

'SirgarPR' wins public relations prize

SirgarPR is the best in-house council public relations team in Wales – and that’s official! Carmarthenshire County Council’s Press and Communications section won the gold award at the recent Chartered Institute of Public Relations Pride awards. The team, which is a one-stop-shop for all PR, has recently rebranded itself as SirgarPR. Judges said: “The judges considered this was a clear winner and an outstanding entry. The way the team has branded itself and built an impressive client base is very impressive. “Performance figures are excellent, with high satisfaction levels from all stakeholders. Judges were impressed by the quality and creativity of the work and the value for money offered.” The team also provides a service for several partner organisations such as Hywel Dda Health Board and CAVS, which includes graphic design, print, web, press and marketing.
