A mother-of-three from Monkton, Pembroke, has praised the Family Support Transport Service for the invaluable support they provided during her pregnancy. Mum to 10-year-old Chloe, 4-year-old David and 3-month-old Nico, 28-year-old Bethan has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and finds it extremely difficult to use public transport even with the support of her partner - Mark Jones - who is also Bethan’s carer. She said: “Having access to the transport service helped to ease my anxiety around public transport. I find it difficult to use public transport at the best of times, being heavily pregnant made it impossible.” Bethan’s pregnancy with baby Nico wasn’t straightforward and left her needing extra health care: “My pregnancy with Nico wasn’t easy; I was diagnosed with anaemia, gestational diabetes, a vitamin B12 deficiency and symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). Staff from South Pembrokeshire Hospital will be taking part in a sponsored bed push to raise money for charity. The nursing staff at the hospital came up with the idea to raise money for Sunderland Ward through the health board’s Support for Life charity. Sunderland Ward is a joint venture with the health board and Pembrokeshire County Council providing integrated services which work together to provide a happy and safe environment to aid recovery and rehabilitation. The bed push will take place in Pembroke Dock on August 10, leaving the hospital at 11am along route 9, London Road, up Ferry Lane, down Bush Hill in to Main Street, along the commons and back up Bush Hill and along High Street. Junior artists ‘Design’ their own poster! | Dyfed Powys Police | Heddlu Dyfed Powys As part of the commitment to community engagement and environmental issues, Dyfed-Powys Police organised a ‘design your own poster’ competition within two junior schools in Pembroke. A presentation evening was held at Foundry House, Pembroke, where all the winners received their prizes. The initiative was created by PCSO Emma Thomas in collaboration with the Heritage and Town Environment Group in Pembroke. It aims to highlight the importance of keeping the town and local Millpond clean of litter and dog fouling.

Work to improve the junction at East End Square, Pembroke, is due to start on Monday, 10th May. Work at the busy junction - which serves the A4075 Holyland Road, Main Street, Station Road and Well Hill - involves the realignment of the carriageway as well as provision of a shared use path and demolition of the St Michaels Church Hall extensions. The main contractor will be Evan Pritchard Contractors Limited with Atkins as consulting engineer, supervising the work which is being carried out on behalf of Pembrokeshire County Council. The scheme has been programmed to minimise the use of traffic management with temporary traffic signals to be used only when required. This arrangement will protect the workforce and control the flow of traffic while limiting disruption to road users.
