Residents in Drefach Felindre urged to help council catch dog mess offenders

Residents in Drefach Felindre are being urged to help the council catch dog owners who are failing to clean up after their pets. Environmental enforcement officers are also stepping up patrols following concerns raised by villagers about the amount of dog mess on the streets. Anyone caught failing to pick up after their dog can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £75 or face prosecution in court where the maximum fine is £1,000. Leaflets have been distributed in the village to help educate dog owners and encourage them to be responsible. Enforcement officers have also met with the local member and concerned residents and the problem has been raised at local PACT meetings. It is believed the problem is being caused by a minority of irresponsible dog owners that live locally. Although officers will be carrying out patrols, they are appealing to residents with any information which may help to catch offenders to come forward under the ‘Dog Watch’ scheme. Morning of music for Glangwili Hospital Gwenllian Ward

Pupils of piano teacher Mags Lawson entertained their families and friends at a morning of music at the Red Dragon Hall in Drefach Felindre. Also performing were three members of the Bristow family,Thorin, Erin and Jenna. A good time was had by all and the proceeds from the raffle are going to Gwellian Ward, Glangwili Hospital. Green Wedding Fair for Carmarthenshire

The Ceridwen Centre near Drefach Felindre is hosting a Green Wedding Fair and Open Day on Sunday 23rd September showcasing eco-chic wedding suppliers with organic, fair-trade and recycled products. There will be photographers, florists, music and canapés and it promises to be a great day out both for those planning a wedding and those simply interested in visiting the Ceridwen Centre. Located on a small organic farm of 40 acres, with accommodation for more than 40 people, the Ceridwen Centre’s Old Dairy was licensed for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies on 31st March 2011 and since being featured on ITV’s This Morning they have been inundated with calls and bookings. They recently received an RDP Sir Gâr Strengthening the Tourism Appeal of Rural Carmarthenshire (STARC) grant to commission the construction of a unique pair of linked wedding tipis from local craftsmen together with the flooring and the dance floor.
