Carmarthen West MP, Simon Hart, visited the new Carmarthenshire Cheese Company’s creamery, shop and visitor centre to tour the premises and try the range of cheeses in the newly opened specialist cheese shop. This was his first formal visit to the company since the opening of the site at Llanllwch close to the showground in Carmarthen in late 2015. During his visit, Mr Hart commented on how impressed he was by the excellence of the locally made cheeses on offer and the way in which the company had designed and organised the new creamery. He said “I was so pleased to be able to see the fantastic new factory up and running as a result of so much hard work. Carmarthenshire County Council is welcoming people’s views about the possible relocation of the County War Memorial in Carmarthen. The issue has been raised this week by Simon Hart MP , who has called on people to speak up if they feel the monument would be better located in another part of the town. The monument, which honours the fallen soldiers of Carmarthenshire, is located on the pavement outside the former infirmary in Priory Street, where wounded soldiers came home to recover from their injuries. However, the infirmary is now derelict, and some are calling for the monument to be located elsewhere in the town where it may be seen by more people. It is currently in the ownership of Carmarthenshire County Council. Mark Davies, Building Operations Manager, said: “We would welcome a constructive debate on the location of the monument, and would be glad to hear any suggestions from local residents as to where they feel it would be better placed. Former Tory chairman link to Werritty scandal (From Western Telegraph) A link has been revealed between a political scandal that rocked Westminster and a Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire Conservative Association. The Guardian reported that the former chairman of Carmarthen west and south Pembrokeshire Conservatives Association, lobbyist Stephen Crouch, had given £20,000 to Adam Werritty, the man whose working relationship with Defence Secretary Liam Fox led to him leaving his Cabinet post. Mr Crouch was said to have been granted a meeting with an arms sales minister at the request of Mr Fox following the ‘donation’ and there have been calls for a full investigation. The Conservative donor and activist is still listed as chairman on South Pembrokeshire MP Simon Hart’s website, but Mr Hart told the Western Telegraph he left in 2010.
