'n-ergy works' plays key role in new campaign to reduce chewing gum litter

Neath Port Talbot Council has launched a new campaign with the aim of reducing littered gum in the local area. Encouraging residents to ‘Bin it your way’, the council has partnered with the Chewing Gum Action Group (CGAG), an organisation chaired by Defra and funded by the chewing gum industry, to tackle gum litter in the UK. The campaign, now in its eighth year, sees industry working with councils and BIDs to develop local initiatives to reduce chewing gum litter. Neath Port Talbot Council is among 16* local authorities and BIDs taking part in the 2013 activity. Results from previous years demonstrate the significant impact of the campaign on gum litter levels. Following 2012’s activity, gum litter levels fell by an average of 54% in participating areas, with some authorities reporting even better results. Afan Forest Visitor Centre a feather in Morganstone's cap

Llanelli construction firm Morganstone Ltd has given the popular Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre a facelift. The forest park is one of the leading tourist attractions in the Neath and Port Talbot area, catering for walkers, leisure cyclists and expert mountain-bikers. “It’s a hugely popular venue and we were delighted to win the contract with Neath Port Talbot Borough Council to carry out the refurbishment and extension of the visitor centre,” said Morganstone managing director Ian Morgan. “There is a great deal of pride in the area about the forest park and it is widely recognised as one of the leading mountain-biking attractions in the UK. “The works we carried out are very important to the future success of the forest park.” The renovation was part of ‘Cognation mtb trails South Wales’, an exciting new partnership project between Neath Port Talbot CBC, Caerphilly CBC, Merthyr Tydfil CBC and Forestry Commission Wales. Another building prize for Morganstone

The award-winning South Wales construction firm Morganstone Ltd has just picked up another prize.  The firm has won a prestigious Building Control Award for its project at The Mews in Port Talbot. “It’s another feather in our cap,” said Morganstone managing director Ian Morgan. “The Mews development is a very attractive scheme - and that is backed up by the fact that the homes there have quickly sold out. “The affordable homes were developed by Pennant Homes and are located on the site of the old Port Talbot Hospital. “The site team from Morganstone thoroughly enjoyed working with Pennant Homes on the project and the Building Control Award is the icing on the cake for us as a firm.” The award was presented when the cream of the construction industry in Neath Port Talbot gathered at The Towers Hotel for a special ceremony.
