Tenants of Carmarthen’s Belvedere Avenue have been amongst the first to see new signs erected illustrating the council’s £200million investment in homes and communities. A series of signs have been installed across the county on housing estates where the largest scale improvements have been made under the council's Carmarthenshire Homes Standard (CHS) programme. They feature the faces of local people who have had their homes and neighbourhoods improved. Cllr Tegwen Devichand, Executive Board Member for Housing , said: “We are very proud of the investment we have made in homes and communities, and wanted to celebrate that by installing signs in key locations around the county to show what we have achieved. “We’re coming close to completion of the programme in 2015, but our tenants have told us that the improvements have already made a big difference to their lives. “As well as improving the physical appearance of homes, we have insulated them and installed energy efficient boil...

Signs banning dogs from Llansteffan beach have been stolen. Four signs which read ‘No dogs beyond this point’ have disappeared from their posts. The council has condemned those responsible and it has been reported it to the police as criminal damage. The byelaw bans dogs from the beach between May 1 and September 30. Environmental enforcement officers regularly patrol the area and anyone caught breaching the byelaw can be prosecuted. Four people were recently reported for summons to court and if convicted, the maximum fine that can be imposed by magistrates by is £500. A new stand against fly-posting has been launched in Carmarthenshire. Council officers will remove any unauthorised signs and anyone caught could get an on-the-spot fine of £75 or a fine of up to £2,500 if prosecuted in court. The policy has been introduced to help clean up the county, stop unfair advertising and because it could potentially be a hazard to motorists. There will be some exemptions, however, for public bodies, community groups and registered charities, although these will be subject to a number of conditions, for example, in relation to safety issues.
