Christmas miracles at East Gate in Llanelli

Britannia Construction has performed miracles evolving the £25-million East Gate development off one of the busiest traffic roundabouts in Carmarthenshire. Construction is well advanced and there are signs that elements of the development could be opening next summer ahead of the scheduled Autumn 2012 completion date. Swansea Castle Roundabout at peak periods of the day has more than 3,000 vehicles entering it and hour, that’s nearly a car every second. The only access to the East Gate site of the new Odeon Cinema, hotel and shops and office complex that is being developed is one of the five spurs off the roundabout. Thousands of tonnes of steel and building blocks, more than 1,000 lorry movements of other building materials and other equipment have all been able to access the site with minimal disturbance to other road users and residents who flank the site on Stepney Place. Bus tour plan for Eastgate site

There's a chance to see Llanelli’s dramatic £60-million transformation from the top of a double-decker open topped bus on Tuesday. (Aug 16) Members of the public will be allowed on a first come first served basis to ride the open topped bus about the town, courtesy of Britannia Construction, which will be give them a wonderful vantage point to see progress about the centre. The first phase of massive transformation of Eastgate opens officially a month ahead of schedule on Tuesday. It is the new bus station offering a smart, spacious and comfortable transport interchange to the new development. The bus station will play a key role allowing visitors to access the new development that will be delivered by the end of 2012. When finished, Eastgate will be transformed into a stunning new quarter of the town. New bus station opens for Llanelli

The new bus interchange that will serve the £25million Eastgate development opens next week a month ahead of schedule. In the last week Britannia Construction have been putting the finishing touches to the terminus. This has included trials with First Cymru who have been running a bus in and out of the new bus interchange that feeds on to Swansea Castle roundabout. County executive board member for transport services Cllr Philip Hughes said everyone who had seen the progress made on the bus station had been impressed with the high quality of workmanship and finish. “When the shuttering comes away in the next week and normal service buses are using the terminus the public will see that Eastgate is well on the way to being delivered before the end of next year.” The old bus station on the opposite side of the development behind Iceland will be closed and become a building site as the new smart, spacious and comfortable interchange opens to serve the new development.
