Calling all 'Old Boys' of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Carmarthen. It's that time of year again - the annual reunion dinner for the Old Maridunians Association, former pupils of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys in Carmarthen. The venue is the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel on Saturday 3rd October at 5.00 for 5.30pm. Dress code: Lounge suit or blazer. Distinguished 'Old Maridunian' Denzil Davies to deliver lecture at Eisteddfod

News here which will be of interest to members of the 'Old Maridunians' Association, the old boys' club for former pupils of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys in Carmarthen. Professor Ceri Davies, Emeritus Professor of Classics at Swansea University, writes - 'As you will know, Carmarthenshire is hosting this year's National Eisteddfod, to be held in Llanelli. 'I am one of the officers of the Classical Section of the University of Wales Alumni Association, and we usually hold a lecture at the Eisteddfod. 'This year the lecture will be given, on Monday 4 August at 12.00 noon, by the Rt Hon Denzil Davies, former MP for Llanelli, a distinguished Old Maridunian. 'His subject will be 'a classical education in Carmarthenshire in the '50s': it will, I am sure, be of interest to many old boys of the 'Gram'. 'A warm welcome is extended to everyone. Details have just been released about the annual reunion dinner for the Old Maridunians Association, the 'Old Boys' of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Carmarthen. This year's dinner will be held at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel on Saturday, October 5, 5pm for 5.30pm. The guest speaker will be Dr Rory McGill, one of the few 'Old Boys' who still manages to play the occasional game of rugby! Any former pupils or staff members interested in attending should email Ian Stone (stoneian@btinternet.com) or James Ward (ward_james@sky.com), who will explain how to pay the £20 ticket price! Calling all members of the Old Maridunians Association, the organisation for old boys of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys in Carmarthen! It's your last chance to sign up for the annual dinner. This year’s annual dinner is to be held at the lvy Bush Hotel, Carmarthen on Saturday 13 October 2012, 4.00pm for 5.00pm; dress: lounge suit or blazer. The dinner is open to all former pupils and staff. lf you know of anyone who has not had an invitation, please pass on this news. This year’s guest speaker will be Andy Edwards, who attended the "Gram" from 1972 to 1978 (when the school ceased to be). Andy trained and qualified as a teacher and started his career in London in the 1980s where, incidentally, he turned out for London Welsh. Andy is now a director of Morfa Bay Adventure Activity Centre in Pendine and is a keen cyclist, often cycling for charity. Calling all members of the Old Maridunians Association, the organisation for old boys of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys in Carmarthen! It has been decided this year to move the annual dinner from a Friday evening to a late Saturday afternoon and also to use a different venue. This will hopefully "freshen" things up while also making it easier for Old Boys living away to be able to attend. It will allow more time to socialise and reminisce with old friends.
