Easter holidays went down a treat for young people in the Amman and Gwendraeth areas thanks to Carmarthenshire Council’s Youth Service. A range of activities were held throughout the break, and the It’s a Knockout event, held at Parc Golwg yr Aman, was a blast at the end of the holidays. Young people from across the two areas and beyond got together to enjoy a day of fun inflatables and obstacle courses. Rhys Jones, Senior Youth Worker for the Amman and Gwendraeth Areas said:“We had a fantastic turn out over the holidays and I’m so glad we can offer these activities to young people free of charge. “Our aim as a service is to put on a range of activities for young people during and out of term time in order to help develop their skills and to tackle mischief on the streets. “The team has plenty to offer and all young people are welcome to attend any of our clubs and initiatives.” To get involved in activities in the Amman and Gwendraeth areas, please contact the Glanaman Youth Resource ...

The Amman and Gwendraeth Youth Team are in the process of developing further detached work in the Penygroes, Crosshands, Llannon, Capel Hendre and Llandybie areas. Youth officers will be visiting the villages in the new detached vehicle where a range of information will be accessible. Special thanks goes to Llannon Community Council, Hendy Community Council and Cwmmaman Town Council for supporting the initiative. The aim of the work is to make contact with young people on the street and to explore what activities they would like to have in their villages. Senior Youth Worker for the Amman and Gwendraeth areas, Rhys Jones said: “Detached youth workers contact young people on their territory and negotiate any further contact or learning and development agenda. “Our goal is to reduce the number of young people on the street and engage them in a range of positive and fun activities."
