Changes to Carmarthenshire bin collections over the Easter holidays

Residents are being reminded that there are changes to bin collections over the Easter holidays. From Friday, April 14 until Friday, April 21, collections will take place one day later than usual. So for example, if your collection is due on Friday it won’t be picked up until Saturday and so on. These changes also affect garden waste and trade waste customers. Please remember to recycle using your blue bags - it is estimated that 90 million chocolate Easter eggs are bought in the UK every year, that’s a lot of cardboard and plastic packaging! And if you are making a big Easter lunch for all the family, make sure you either compost your vegetable peelings or they go into your food bin, which is collected weekly, along with any leftovers. Carmarthenshire Council has responded to the latest changes to bin collections in the county by issuing answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - A number of changes have been made to bin collections in Carmarthenshire from October 31 and Carmarthenshire Council has put together some of your frequently asked questions. Why is my collection day changing? Our refuse collection vehicles are ageing and need to be replaced in order to deliver an improved service to customers without disruption. At the same time, we have reviewed the collection routes across the county to make them more efficient. By reducing the number of vehicles, we are saving money by reducing maintenance and fuel costs and improving the council’s carbon footprint. Why has my collection time changed? Carmarthenshire residents reminded about changes to bin collections

Residents in Carmarthenshire have started to receive information in the post about changes to their bin collections. Due to the large number of households affected, the letters are being sent out over a four week period up until October 28. Around 65,000 households will be affected by a change of collection day; some will also have a change to their blue / black bag collection weeks. Some residents may also notice a change to their collection time, even if their day remains the same, and are being reminded to put their rubbish out before 6am on their collection day (and no earlier than 6pm the evening before). The changes will come into effect from the week beginning October 31. Residents can go online to check if their collection day / week is changing; visit i-Local and click on My House. Enter your postcode, select your address and click go. The current collection of garden waste will also cease from October 31 and will be replaced with a new scheme in April 2017. Carmarthenshire residents are being reminded that there are changes to bin collections over the May Bank Holiday. From Monday, May 2 until Friday, May 6, collections will take place one day later than usual. Remember to put out either your blue or black bags depending on what colour week it is and your food bins a day later than usual. These changes also affect council trade waste customers. The recycling centres in Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford), Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland are open as usual except Llangadog which closes on all Bank Holidays.
