Latest statement on Andrews Medical Practice in Llanelli

The latest statement from the Hywel Dda University Health Board regarding the Andrews Medical Practice in Llanelli is here - Patients registered with Andrews Medical Practice in Llanelli will soon be allocated a new GP surgery following the decision of the Service provider to return its GMS contract to the Health Board. Hywel Dda University Health Board can confirm that the Practice will cease to provide GMS services from 31 May 2017, following the decision by the Rosedale Medical Group. Patients currently registered at the Practice will be automatically registered with another Practice locally. The Health Board is working closely with neighbouring GPs and the Community Health Council, and patients will receive an individual letter within the next few days. Hywel Dda Health Board working to resolve issues with GP services in Cardigan

Hywel Dda University Health Board is working with Ashleigh Surgery in Cardigan to ensure continued provision of GP services in the area following a resignation and future retirement of one of the partners. Dr Peter Counsell resigned from Ashleigh Surgery in January 2016 and will be leaving the Practice at the end of July. Dr Simon Knight will reach retirement age in January 2017. The Practice has been striving hard for some time to attract GPs to the area, but unfortunately has not been successful to date. In light of this, the partnership has decided to serve seven months' notice to end their General Medical Services contract with Hywel Dda University Health Board. In the short term this means that care will be provided by the same doctors, nurses and reception staff currently within the Practice, whilst the Practice and the University Health Board work with the community to find a longer term future that secures this important service for the Cardigan population. The decisio...

Hywel Dda University Health Board and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board are pleased to announce a permanent General Medical Services (GMS) contract has been awarded to the Amman Tawe Partnership, securing GP services for patients formerly served by the Amman Valley Medical Practice. This will mean no change for patients or the services that they access in the areas of Garnant, Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Brynamman, Cwmlynfell and Ystralyfera, as the Amman Tawe Partnership has been the temporary contract holder for this population since July 2014 and has been providing services across both Health Board areas. Patients will be able to access their services from whichever site is most convenient. The Amman Tawe partnership will, formally from Monday 1 June, be responsible for providing general medical services to approximately 12,000 people; accountable to ABMU Health Board for approximately 8,000 Neath Port Talbot residents and to Hywel Dda UHB for approximately 4,000 Carmarthenshire...

Hywel Dda University Health Board works with GPs to secure service in Kidwelly

Hywel Dda University Health Board would like to reassure residents of Kidwelly, Trimsaran and Ferryside that their GP provision will continue. The university health board has been in discussion with the practice for some time to ensure services continue in the area when the Senior Partner (GP) retires at the end of the year. Following these discussions it was felt that the best way to continue the service would be for the university health board to take over management of the practice from January 4, 2015. It is hoped this arrangement will be a temporary solution to ensure continued delivery of services and to reassure the local people and the staff who work there. A spokesperson for the GP’s at the surgery said: “Due to problems with GP recruitment we have been having discussions with Hywel Dda University Health Board and they have agreed to take over the management of the practice from January 2015. We will continue to work closely with the university health board to ensure a smo...
