State-of-the-art scanner unveiled at Llanelli’s Prince Philip Hospital
Urology consultants at Llanelli’s Prince Philip Hospital have proudly unveiled a state-of-the-art scanner - worth £117,000 - that is set to put the University Health Board (UHB)’s male cancer services “at the top of the class”. The unveiling marks the pinnacle of months and indeed years of community fundraising across the region to update the hospital’s existing prostate cancer diagnosis capacity, allowing consultants to use imaging and perform targeted biopsies that hadn’t previously been possible. Consultant Urologist Mr Yeung Ng said: “When we began the fundraising campaign with Prince Philip’s League of Friends in late 2013, the goal was much more modest.
