Making his mark at the Myrddin Shorts Film Festival in Carmarthen on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend is Tim Couch. Couch has been interested in film since the age of 16 but was unable to fully embark on film-making until he was a student at Trinity University College, Carmarthen. His first film 'The Feeling of Cake' was an improvised piece using actors from the School of Theatre and Performance at Trinity, and was well received by Tim's peers and lecturers. After a two-year break Tim is back again with 'Wayne', a film which is an extension of one of the characters taken from Tim's earlier work. Wayne synopsis - 'Wayne' is a ‘mockumentary’ about Tim Couch and Wayne Evans. Tim is a documentary filmmaker who comes to film Wayne. Everything seems to be going well at first but then Tim meets Wayne's boss Antonio and everything seems to take a turn for the worse. Two students from Trinity University in Carmarthen will be aiming to make their mark at the Myrddin Shorts film festival being staged in the town on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Two students from Trinity University in Carmarthen will be aiming to make their mark at the Myrddin Shorts film festival being staged in the town on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Ash Roberts will be screening Delivery and David Evans will be showing Down in a Hole. Ash Roberts is a third-year student currently studying a degree in Media Studies at Trinity University College. Delivery is one of his many films in a portfolio that spans over six years of experience, which includes work in graphic design, web authoring and design, visual and audio editing, film and radio work (including script writing), animation and game mechanics and design. Richards is a third-year Media Studies student at Trinity University College, Carmarthen, and is very interested in the post-production aspect of film making and directing. For three years he has been writing and directing films and radio plays, together with his web design work, animation and audio/visual editing, which he considers to be his strength. Evans has directed The Taming of Charlie Langford. From an early age, Evans wanted to be making films. After being heavily influenced by his film idols Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, Evans started filming short films such as “The other side” and “Afterglow”. He also writes comedy screenplays and began his interest in writing at the very early age of seven. It is Martin Scorsese’s dark comedy “The King of Comedy” that influenced his latest film “The Taming of Charlie Langford” – a project that has been eight years in the making. Jones will be screening Joshua's Secrets. Jones was brought up in the Swansea Valleys and attended a Welsh secondary school. This led her to perform in Eisteddfodau and in many school productions which have been recognised across the South Wales valleys. Her love for performing expanded to a new level to making films. This interest began by studying media studies at A level. Currently, Jones is a third-year student at Trinity University College, Carmarthen. One of the budding young film-makers aiming to make her mark at the Myrddin Shorts film festival in Carmarthen on the May Bank Holiday weekend is Lauren Mortimer. Mortimer is a third-year student at Trinity University College, Carmarthen, studying a BA Film Studies degree. Her film is called From Echoes Past. She is currently shooting and directing her final university project, a 15-minute film which she scripted, directed and edited. Outside of university she has produced two professional wedding videos. She has also worked alongside a local filmmaker named Chris Kellet, who was employed to film the London stage company, Piccadilly Stages, in Oakwood Park during a live McFly gig. She has also created an advertisement film for a local company to promote the growth of their business. Scarsbrook, 22, was born in Carmarthen and brought up in Essex. He has always been interested in filmmaking and has already produced several short films. His short films have been seen by many people across both England and Wales and have received more than 2000 combined views online to this date. Scarsbrook is currently completing a BA Film Studies degree at Trinity University College, Carmarthen, while working on a variety of short films, music videos and non-commercial filming jobs including several ‘Blatella’ produced short films which have been entered into film festivals nationwide. It’s Festival Time for film-makers studying at Trinity University College, Carmarthen. Budding directors, writers, designers and film producers will be staging Myrddin Shorts, a mini film festival in Carmarthen, on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday weekend. “Screenings will be in three separate venues in Carmarthen town centre,” said one of the film-makers Natalie Williams. “We have split ourselves into three groups of students and each one will be responsible for one venue.
