Work starts on improving day care services for elderly
Carmarthenshire County Council is calling for people to come on board as they look at ways of improving and developing Day Care services for older people. The Authority is beginning a piece of work to look at the services currently available for people within its Day Care Centres, and also in local communities, with the aim of ensuring facilities can cope with the changing needs of older people. As part of this work, council officers will be visiting the county’s day care centres and also inviting individuals, service users, carers and stakeholders to have their say about the kind of services needed. An improvement plan will then be prepared for discussion by the Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee. Sheila Porter, Head of Primary, Community and Social Care, said: “We want to look at what services we already have in the community, and explore ways of improving them so that they are fit for purpose for the current clients, whilst supporting carers and working with communities.”...
