Boost for Welsh language in leisure
Carmarthenshire County Council Leisure Department has been working with Anglesey, Gwynedd and Ceredigion County Councils as part of the Welsh Language Board’s Promoting Bilingual Workplaces scheme. The project aimed to establish a network of Welsh Language Champions in Leisure across the four counties. Leisure has great potential to promote the use of Welsh across a spectrum of activities and interests. The Welsh Language Champions will raise the profile of the Language using Welsh in the workplace, in meetings, and with learners. Four Champions were nominated in the county - Hannah Dunn in Carmarthen, Huw Jones in Newcastle Emlyn, Steffan Jones in St Clears and Fiona Pugh in Ammanford. Following three days of training in conjunction with other counties, the Champions agreed on a series of actions to be completed back at their Leisure Centres.
