West Wales law firm Redkite Solicitors advised Cypriot-owned renewable energy company Egnedol on one of the most significant land purchases in Pembrokeshire. The deal saw the purchase of the former Gulf refinery at Waterston and the Royal Naval Armaments Dept (RNAD) Blackbridge site in Milford Haven. Egnedol intends to create a new renewable energy facility at the site, an investment which could rise up to £1.6billion over the next five years and hopes to create 560 jobs during the first phase of the investment. The renewable energy facility will convert biomass into a biogas to be used to produce green electricity or green liquid fuels. The heat and carbon dioxide captured from this process is to be used in food production businesses at the site. Egnedol also hopes to partner with Welsh universities to create a research and development facility on the site to develop further sustainable technologies. Healthcare workers got a tour of their new purpose built home today in Milford Haven. The new £3million Manchester Square Health Centre will replace the current GP surgery buildings of Barlow House and Robert Street. Services currently provided from Hakin Surgery will also be relocated in the new premises. The building, the new health centre will also accommodate midwives and health visitors from York Street Clinic and health visitors and districts nurses from Hakin surgery. An independent pharmacy is also located within the new facility. The new health centre will open on October 29 2012. Temporary arrangements are in place for patients during the relocation: Robert Street Practice – phone and fax lines will be out of use from October 26. A new modern integrated health centre in Milford Haven is set to open in October. The new £3million facility will replace the current GP surgery buildings of Barlow House and Robert Street. The two practices will work collaboratively but retain their separate identities. They will move into the Manchester Square Health Centre, in a single purpose-built integrated primary care centre. The building, will also accommodate various health services including a base for district nurses, midwives and health visitors. An independent pharmacy is also located within the new facility. It has been designed to allow for future growth in the coming months and years by providing additional clinical space which will allow for the potential future development of primary and community based health services. Two young swimmers made a splash at a recent charity swim. Eight year old Megan Rogers and 10 year old Ellie Parks - both from Milford Haven - took to their local pool for a charity swimathon. The girls were among 24 swimmers - both children and adults - who swam in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer charity. The swimmers swam 200 lengths of Milford Haven's Leisure Centre pool either as individuals or as part of a team. Both Megan and Ellie, who swim regularly for the Milford Haven swimming squad, swam 200 lengths each finishing in one hour and 43 minutes. "The two girls did very well and it was particularly great to see Megan take part as she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008," said swimming teacher Tracy Parks. The former Milford Haven Library has been given a new lease of life. The building, which once played a key role in the cultural life of the town, is now offering residents a service of a different kind. The Hamilton Terrace building is the new base of Futureworks - the specialist providers of skills and employment services. Part of Pembrokeshire County Council's learning and development services, Futureworks is launching a range of exciting new opportunities for unemployed and economically inactive people; supporting them in their journey back into work. The new services will create jobs in the County by offering employers help in recruiting the right people, provide incentives to create new job opportunities and support new employees once they are in work.
