Tanya Walker to premier new work at Brecon
Ground-breaking singer-songwriter Tanya Walker is launching her new work entitled Breaking The Fear Wall at Brecon Cathedral on Saturday March 10. The much admired founder of Flowmotion has settled on the songwriters path in recent years and cites Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Bjork and Tori Amos as key influences. “Think June Tabor with a contemporary classical, alternative twist,” says Walker who last year performed at a high profile event in Grovesnor Square, London (the location of the American Embassy) to commemorate the lives of 9/11 victims. Breaking The FearWall is also to be entered into The Mercury Music Prize. The performance of this suite of interconnected songs will feature harmonies by the 36 member Brecon Cathedral Choir. Also accompanying Tanya Walker, will be a specially assembled contemporary acoustic rock ensemble that includes members of Cerys Matthew’s Band.
