Parents reminded of vaccinations ahead of summer holidays

Hywel Dda Health Board | Parents reminded of vaccinations ahead of summer holidays Parents in Wales booking their summer holidays are being reminded to make sure they also book an appointment for their children to receive their vaccinations. Public Health Wales has issued a reminder that diseases rare in the UK do still circulate in popular holiday destinations and can be a serious threat to Welsh children. Parents are being urged not only to ensure their children receive the vaccinations required for travel abroad, but also to arrange for them to catch up on any of the routine vaccinations given in the UK that they might have missed.

Childhood vaccines highlighted during European Immunizations Week

Hywel Dda Health Board | Childhood vaccines highlighted during European Immunizations Week Public Health Wales is highlighting the importance of childhood vaccinations during European Immunization Week 2012. The annual event takes place this week and will see 52 European countries plan activities in support of the message that immunisation of every child is vital in saving lives. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Europe being declared a polio-free region thanks to vaccination, and Public Health Wales is reminding parents that other childhood diseases like measles could also be eradicated if vaccine uptake targets are met.
