Pirates ahoy! New themed play area rises at Llanelli's North Dock

A spaghetti tangle of ‘Pieces of Eight’ red coloured metalwork rising at Llanelli’s North Dock is arresting a good deal of attention. The 18ft high pirates’ crew cabin and crows’ nest climbing frame and other maritime themed play things are being assembled in a magnificent and long awaited £106,000 playing area at the entrance to the Millennium Coastal Park. The cash for the play area has been provided through Section 106 monies provided by the adjacent Millennium Quays North Dock development. The park will be open in early March well in time for the Easter rush and is being welcomed by North Dock businesses to help boost visitor numbers. Around the spectacular climbing frame there will be spring loaded playing items including sharks, an octopus and dolphins and other nautically themed items all in a secure fenced off area alongside the main public car park. New play area for the village of Bronwydd

The village of Bronwydd now has a play area – thanks to a £38,000 investment supported by Carmarthenshire County Council. The play area alongside Bronwydd Hall is already proving popular with local youngsters. Bronwydd Playing Field Committee applied for grant aid under the Rural Community Inclusion element of the Rural Development Plan and its proposals were supported because Bronwydd did not have a play area and the nearest were in the outlying villages of Llanpumpsaint and Peniel several miles away. The scheme was awarded £20,000 from the RDP, £15,000 from CWM Environmental and £3,000 through the Welsh Church Fund. The site is leased from the council by the Bronwydd Hall Committee and is run by the Bronwydd Playing Fields Committee. The play equipment was installed by Playdale.
