The Avenue, Carmarthen, is to be closed for three weeks from its junction with Priory Street for a total distance of 150 metres in a south-easterly direction. The closure is necessary for Wales and West Utilities to carry out gas mains replacement works from Monday, October 12, 2015. The alternative route for north west bound traffic will be to travel in a south-westerly direction along The Parade to its junction with North Parade.  At the junction, turn right and continue in a north-westerly direction along North Parade to its junction with Priory Street. At the junction, turn right and continue in a north-easterly direction to return to a point north-west of the closure.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the Pensarn area of Carmarthen at peak times this week if possible due to roadworks. There have been significant delays during peak time (8:30am-9:15am and 3:30pm to 5:30pm) on the A484 in and around the Morrison’s roundabout area due to road works carried out by Wales and West Utilities (Gas) and the contractors for the new Pensarn development. Both organisations would like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank everyone for their co-operation. They hope to improve the situation by next week. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes if possible.
