The road at the junction of the A4138 at Halfway, Llanelli, is to be resurfaced by contractors working on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council. Work will take place overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. A road closure will be in place from 7pm to 3am affecting Glyncoed Terrace and Pemberton Road for the duration of the works, with diversions signposted. Work is expected to take 10 nights, weather permitting. Cllr Hazel Evans, Executive Board Member for Transport, said: “These are essential works on a very busy junction. Whilst we are carrying out the works after peak hours to minimise disruption, we appreciate this will still inconvenience road users and residents. We would like to apologise for this inconvenience, and thank members of the public in advance for their cooperation.”

Pembrey's Penybedd Level Crossing will be closed from a point 70 metres west of its junction with the A484 for a total distance of 36 metres in a westerly direction on Sunday, October 25. The closure, just off Kidwelly Flats, is necessary for Centurion Traffic Management to carry out engineering works to the level crossing from 3am to 9.30am on the Sunday morning. Work is being carried out in the early hours to minimise disruption. The alternative route for west bound traffic will be to travel in an easterly direction along the U2282 to its junction with the A484. At the junction, turn left and travel in a northerly direction along the A484 to its junction with the U2280. Work is beginning this week to enhance four roundabouts at the Gateways to Llanelli. The work to the Berwick, Box, Trostre and Sandy Roundabouts is part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funded ADREF project. A traffic management scheme will be operating on Berwick roundabout from this Wednesday (March 25) until March 30 with a break for Easter and then from April 15-17; on Box roundabout from March 30 until April 2, then April 13-14 and April 22-24. Trostre roundabout will have traffic management from April 15-27 and April 29 until May 1, and Sandy roundabout from April 27 until May 1 and May 11 to May 13. Any lane closures on the roundabouts will not commence before 9.30am and will be removed by 3.30pm. The council apologises for any inconvenience this will cause. Works to create safe walking and cycling routes in the community of Llwynhendy will mean temporary closure of Parc Gitto for two days in March. Parc Gitto will be closed from its junction with Hendre Road for a distance of 350 metres in a northerly direction. The closure is necessary for Carmarthenshire County Council to carry out Safe Routes in the Community Work from 8am on Monday, March 2, to 6pm on Tuesday, March 3. The alternative route for north bound traffic will be to travel in a north-easterly direction along Hendre Road to its junction with Llwynhendy Road. At the junction, turn left and continue in a north-westerly direction to return to a point north of the closure. Vice versa for south bound traffic. A £40,000 traffic management scheme designed by Carmarthenshire Council transport team for Nantycaws has been unanimously approved by Llangunnor Community Council. County traffic manager John McEvoy presented feedback from a public exhibition on proposed traffic management measures for Nantycaws. He told members following the exhibition the proposals were changed to include a 30mph speed limit through the village and a 40mph buffer speed limit on the east bound approach to the village. The Community Council did not support the placement of a vertical plateau in the centre of the village one of the outcomes demanded by residents at an exhibition held on September 12. Because the community council voted against this, the platform will not be part of the scheme. The proposed closure to through traffic of the overtaking lane, the provision of street lighting in the middle of the village, and the creation of two right turn refuge lanes were given full endorsement from the Community Council....

A new traffic flow system is now in place at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest to make way for the £7.5million state-of-the-art Renal Dialysis unit. Work on this new facility has recently commenced and will be open to patients by February 2014. As part of the preparation for the construction of the renal development, temporary changes to patient and staff car parking are required to be undertaken. The main entry and parking for patients and visitors to the hospital site is via the Fishguard Road using the front car parks. Patients and visitors can no longer access the site from the roundabout entrance. Exit from the front car parks can be either via the main site entry point (as is currently the case) or alternatively via the link road between the two car parks, which has changed to a one way flow. Piano Bridge in Lower Trostre Road, Llanelli, is planned to reopen Friday, May 11. There has been widespread disruption for commuters, commercial deliveries and visitors since the necessary bridge replacement works started in January The double bridge spans the main London to Fishguard rail line and a bank of disused sidings. It was not possible to carry out the work piecemeal leaving one lane open because the whole of the two bridge spans, one over the main line and the other over the sidings, has had to be replaced The demolition and reconstruction of the railway and sidings bridge has taken place and the restorations of services and finishing works are in their final stages. Weather proofing of the construction has to be completed and this has to be undertaken in good weather conditions which means the finishing is entirely dependent on weather conditions.

A raft of new traffic calming measurers is planned for Ferryside with no humps. A public exhibition at the village’s community hall attracted 51 visitors to view the proposals which included: • Electronic driver feedback signs unit on Carmarthen Road (both east and west bound) • Traffic warning sign (double bend) on Port Way. • 20mph speed limit terminal signs (both sides of carriageway) on Carmarthen Road, Water Street, Port Way, and Brigstock Terrace • 20mph speed limit imposed on Carmarthen Road, Water Street, Eva Terrace, Port Way, and Brigstock Terrace • New bus shelter and raised kerbs adjoining the public car park and adjoining the level crossing. There are no plans to construct traffic humps in Ferryside. More than 370 letters were delivered by hand to all properties in the village before the exhibition event in early March. Residents raise concerns about lane and police pledge action | Dyfed Powys Police | Heddlu Dyfed Powys Concerns were raised by residents at a recent meeting of the Felinfoel Pact about motorists using a lane in Dafen as a short cut. The lane, which is off Maescanner Road, has been tarmaced to make it safer for children going to school, but not motorists appear to be using it too.
