Last chance to enter Next Steps apprenticeship competition

If you are looking for a job in the construction industry then enter Next Steps now. The deadline for this year’s competition is Friday, June 10 and there are four apprenticeships up for grabs from TRJ Ltd and Lloyd and Gravell Ltd. It is open to anyone aged 16 and over living in Carmarthenshire, and no previous experience is needed. Those shortlisted will be invited for interview, and the successful candidates will then spend five weeks on-site with skilled tradesmen during July and August to learn skills including carpentry, bricklaying, plastering and ground works. The winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony on August 12 and then they will have a few weeks off before starting their apprenticeships in September. Any runners-up that really impress during the process may also be given further opportunities by other local contracting companies. Clock ticking to entry deadline for Next Steps competition

There’s just a few days left for people to secure their chance of winning a construction apprenticeship. The clock is ticking towards the June 19th deadline for entries to this year’s Next Steps – the annual competition where anyone living in Carmarthenshire, aged 16+, has the chance of securing an apprenticeship with local building firms Lloyd & Gravell Ltd and TRJ Ltd . It is open to men and women, there is no upper age limit, and it does not matter what previous experience entrants have. Next Steps is run by Constructing Carmarthenshire Together - a partnership of Carmarthenshire County Council, Coleg Sir Gâr , and Carmarthenshire Construction Training Association Ltd . Delight for 'Fab Four' in the Next Steps apprenticeships competition

The number of construction apprenticeships provided by Carmarthenshire’s award-winning Next Steps programme this year has not just doubled – it’s quadrupled! An unexpected twist rounded off what has been another successful competition. Ammanford’s TRJ Ltd joined the scheme for the first time this year, providing an extra apprenticeship placement as part of the process. But during the winner’s ceremony, held at Llanelli’s Ffwrnes Theatre , the two companies announced that - such was the calibre of this year’s candidates – that they wanted to take two apprentices each. Dewey Clarke from Llanelli and Rhodri Evans from Pontyates will now begin apprenticeships with Lloyd and Gravell Ltd , and Luke Allen from Llanelli and Scott Williams from Ammanford will work with TRJ Ltd. Deadline extended for Next Steps apprenticeships chance

Thought you’d missed your chance to enter Next Steps 2014? Well, you’re in luck, as we’ve just extended the deadline to give you a few extra days to get your application forms in! Anyone interested in competing for a chance to win a secure two-year apprenticeship with Lloyd and Gravell Ltd or TRJ Ltd as part of this exciting annual scheme, has now got until 5pm on Friday June 20, to submit their application. Shortlisting for interviews takes place next week. “We wanted to give more people the chance to get their entries in,” said Kevin Gravell, Director of Lloyd and Gravell Ltd. “This is a great opportunity for someone, an opportunity that could literally change their lives. Free breakfast events raise profile of job opportunities in Carmarthenshire

A series of successful events held by Carmarthenshire Communities First Team and Jobs Growth Wales are helping to raise the profile of work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for the young. The events offered a free breakfast across a variety of venues across the Llanelli and Ammanford cluster * to discuss work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for the young. They proved so popular that an extra breakfast session is planned for Monday, March 10, at Llanelli Library between 10am – 12pm. The aim is to help 16-24 year olds that are job ready but have had difficulty securing employment by offering exclusive job placements, paid at or above the national minimum wage for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Leading Welsh brewer launches search for new apprentice talent

Llandeilo-based award-winning brewer Evan-Evans is starting the search for 10 new apprentices to join the brewing company’s pub estate. And one of them will be the first ‘brewing apprentice’ in the Welsh brewing industry. The company has teamed up with Mid Wales company Cambrian Training to provide the comprehensive training scheme that will develop the new talent for the Evan-Evans brewery group. The scheme, launched this week, will develop the opportunity for one new apprentice in each of the company’s public houses to work through the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) Level 2 and 3 certificates in Licensed Hospitality Skills. In addition to training a team of front-of-house apprentices, the company has also committed to driving opportunities for apprentices in food production and cooking.
