It has taken a full 24 hours for the death of our dear friend Monro Walters to sink in. A man for all seasons - a voice for all occasions. Monro's sudden death leaves a massive hole in the life of the community we call Llanelli. It is hard to comprehend what Maxine and family are feeling. His departure was so swift that there is still a profound sense of disbelief. I was proud and privileged to call Monro a friend. But he was also much more - a committed professional, a wonderful colleague, a truly humble man with a lovely, warm and generous personality. He had a laugh that could kick-start a chorus. He could sing - but he could also inspire, inform and entertain just by being Monro and talking. The voice was class. Our last conversation was on Wednesday night. Llanelli Football Club vow to tackle taxman's petition to wind up club | This is South Wales Llanelli Football Club is facing legal action from HM Revenue and Customs. But officials at the club say they are confident the dispute with the taxman will soon be resolved and will not affect the future of the club.

The Llanelli Reds have started training ahead of their UEFA Europa League exploits at the beginning of July. At their Saturday morning session at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport, Reds manager, Andy Legg, confirmed that Jason Bowen, Lloyd Grist, Lee Sunman, Chris Thomas, Ashley Evans and Chris Venables had all resigned for the forthcoming season. He also welcomed new additions to the squad in the shape of Luke Bowen, Geoff Kellaway, and Martin Rose and former Cardiff City Academy product Mamadou Diallu. Legg was also expecting Antonio Corbisiero, Ashley Morris, Ryan Batley, Martyn Giles, Craig Moses and Craig Williams to agree to terms this week. In addition, former keeper Craig Morris is also expected to return to the Welsh Premier League club. One omission to the squad is young goalkeeper, Craig Richards, who has joined Port Talbot Town. Llanelli 2 - Bala Town 1 - Welsh Premier - Football - WalesOnline Rhys Griffiths’ 30th goal of the season sent Llanelli on their way to Europa League qualification with a play-off final victory over Bala Town at Stebonheath Park. Llanelli will now join Bangor City and Cefn Druids in the draw for the preliminary round of the competition, which takes place at Uefa headquarters in Switzerland on June 25.

There's a chance to have your say on the Welsh Premier League at a public meeting of the National Assembly’s Community, Equality and Local Government Committee in Llanelli on Thursday. Details:  National Assembly for Wales Community, Equality and Local Government Committee at Stebonheath Park, Llanelli, 19.30, Thursday 24 May 2012. The committee is holding an inquiry into the Welsh Premier League and wants football fans to come along and with their views. The committee wants views on facilities, youth player development, attendance and any other issues. This open-mic session and others will give the committee an opportunity to hear directly from football fans, officials and players so the Assembly can put views to the Football Association of Wales. Top international darts players Peter 'One Dart' Manley and Colin 'Jaws' Lloyd will be in action at the Llanelli Reds Club at Stebonheath Park in May. The stars will play at the club on Saturday, May 19, and local darts players will be able to play against both of them, while Manley and Lloyd will also play an exhibition match against each other. Tickets for the night are available from the club. Front of house tickets are priced at £15 while back of house tickets are £10. The event will start at 7pm and tickets can be bought by telephone on 01554 758018 during normal office hours.

All Reds supporters can bring a friend to the home game with The New Saints on Saturday 18th February (KO 3pm) for just a pound. The friend must be a new visitor to Stebonheath Park and must be accompanied by a regular supporter. This club imitative is an attempt to have an increased attendance for this game which is being shown live on S4C. Meanwhile, Reds supporters can buy a Super Six Ticket for just £25 (Adults) and £15 (OAP’s) from Wednesday 1st February. This will mean a saving of £10 on admission prices for the five home fixtures in The Championship Conference. The Super Six Ticket can be bought up to 2pm on Saturday 11th February at the home game with Bangor City and will also include admission to the league games with The New Saints (18 Feb), Neath (9 March), Bala Town (17 March) and Prestatyn Town (14 April). Arrest in Llanelli Football Club cash inquiry | This is South Wales An investigation has been launched into a substantial amount of money missing from Llanelli Football Club. Police are probing the matter after being called in by the Reds.

Swansea City will take a strong squad to Llanelli tomorrow night to officially switch on the Reds' new floodlights at Stebonheath Park (7.30pm). The majority of the first team squad not on international duty are involved, including Craig Beattie (ankle) and Andrea Orlandi (knee) who will make their comebacks from injury. The Reds, who have played in the Europa League this season and are currently enjoying a good start to their Welsh Premier League campaign, are managed by former Swans player Andrew Legg. Ticket prices on the night are £7 for adults, £5 for senior citizens and £2 for under-16s. A big crowd is expected and supporters are advised to arrive early for the game. Llanelli AFC (The Reds of Llanelli Town) have announced that their kit sponsors from last season, the Jenkins Bakery, have decided to continue their sponsorship for the coming season.
