Mount Kilimanjaro climb to raise money for cancer research

Earlier this year a Gwendraeth Valley man lost his beloved wife to cancer and believed his life to be over. But a lion, a zebra and a mountain have given Terry Davies a focus after the tragic loss of his wife Janet and helped him carry on. In January he will climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for cancer research, and Terry says that what gives him the strength to keep going is the opportunity to help others who are touched by the terrible disease. Terry and Janet, who was just 51 when she died, were together for 30 years, and the only time they spent apart was when they were at work. They never argued and said their secret to a happy marriage was that they were always honest and trusted each other. Terry said: “When Janet was diagnosed in May 2015, my life was turned upside down. Accountant Amanda running half marathon for charity

Clay Shaw Butler accountant Amanda Russell is running the Cardiff half marathon on Sunday. She is joining a team of five other runners from West Wales raising money for a small country in west Africa called Burkina Faso. Amanda said: "The United Nations rates Burkina Faso as the world's third poorest country and so they need as much help and money as we can give to allow them a chance to become self sustainable.
