Llanelli Rotarians are organising a Gala Boxing Night to raise charity funds. The Boxing Night is being held in association with Trostre Amateur Boxing Club at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli, on Friday, April 17. And tickets are going fast, with just a few tables remaining. Llanelli Rotary spokesman Robert Lloyd said: “We have organised boxing events before with the help of Trostre ABC and they have proved very popular and very successful. “The evening promises to be a great local sporting occasion and we will be raising cash for the charities Rotary supports.” Tickets are £35. Bouts can be sponsored for £40. Tables of 10 are available for corporate customers. Boxers benefit from police grant | Dyfed Powys Police | Heddlu Dyfed Powys Trostre Amateur Boxing Club in Llanelli was recently presented with a cheque for £456 thanks to Dyfed Powys Police. The money’s come from the force’s incentivisation fund. This fund is made up of money that’s been recovered as proceeds of crime from convicted criminals, which is then ploughed back into our local communities.

Trostre Amateur Boxing Club are gearing up for a fundraising fight night in memory of former British super-featherweight champion Robert Dickie. Llanelli's Diplomat Hotel will play host to the annual show, which raises cash for charity, as well as much-needed funds to ensure the club can keep going. This year, members have chosen to support the coronary department at Prince Philip Hospital, in memory of Dickie, who passed away in October following a heart attack. Club secretary Del Phillips said: "Robert was with us at the show last year and he presented a trophy for us. He said he was honoured and humbled just to be asked to do it. "Being a humble sort of guy he didn't think he was worthy to do so, even though he was a British champion. "He was talking about trying to get more involved in boxing, by refereeing and judging, but unfortunately he didn't have the opportunity. I am grateful to Del Phillips for the following report on the Llanelli Rotary Club boxing dinner - A technical hitch caused a late switch of venue from Parc y Scarlets to the Diplomat Hotel for the HARK charity boxing dinner. However, the enthusiastic assembled diners and seated audience thoroughly enjoyed the event, held by Llanelli Rotary Club in conjunction with Trostre Amateur Boxing Club. The first bout, an exhibition, saw 11-year-old Kyle Price of Llanelli's Melbourne ABC face 12-year-old Jordan Marshall from Gwendraeth Valley ABC. Both boys put everything into their first public outing and the action was fast and furious, with no declared winner but a very appreciative crowd. Next up was 15-year-old Dion Wright of the Afan ABC against Sean Keenan of Melbourne. The bout made at 57 kilos saw Keenan emerge a narrow winner on points. Llanelli Rotary Club is staging a charity fund-raising amateur boxing dinner show at Parc y Scarlets on Friday, November 5. Trostre Boxing Club are staging the show on behalf of Llanelli Rotary’s HARK (Hearing Assessment Research Klinic) Appeal for Ghana in Africa. The evening will feature eight bouts of amateur boxing with boxers drawn from various clubs in Wales. Also included is a three course dinner in the Canolfan Delme Thomas (Delme Thomas centre) at Parc-y-Scarlets. Rotary Club president Melanie Carroll-Cliffe said a previous boxing dinner show organised in conjunction with the Trostre club had been a huge success. She added: “We have a wonderful venue for the event at Parc y Scarlets and it promises to be an excellent evening, with plenty of sporting action, good food and good company.
