New links between Pembrey school and library

Pembrey library and school are already next door neighbours but they have now become even closer. The relationship between the school and the library has always been good with classes making regular visits to borrow books and make use of the IT facilities. The children also utilise the service outside of school hours for their homework and leisure reading. Now the room occupied by the school library is needed for teaching. But rather than lose the library space for the children by spreading books around the classrooms the school and the county library service are joining forces. The school’s books have been relocated to the public library and have been merged with the existing stock to make one joint collection. Children have a blast at Pembrey Library

Children had a blast at Pembrey Library last half-term at a free craft event. They enjoyed some space-themed stories before launching themselves into decorating their own rockets. The youngsters, accompanied by parents or grandparents, were really creative and had fun with glitter and glue. Feedback following the event was really positive with everyone expressing their appreciation for the activity. One mother said: "Both my girls really enjoyed this morning's crafts. Thank you to the library staff for a fun-filled morning!" Another added: "What a great idea - my children loved the stories and creating their own rockets afterwards." One grandmother said it was great to have something to do on their doorstep, and another commented that it was good for giving young and old people the opportunity to do things together. Craft session for children at Pembrey

A children's craft session is taking place at Pembrey Library this half-term. The event will be held at the Carmarthenshire County Council facility at the Old School in Ashburnham Road. It is suitable for three to 10-year-olds and is taking place on Thursday, October 28, from 10am to 11am. The session is free of charge, but tickets must be booked as places are limited.
