Knitting day at Parcyrhun School
A keen crowd of knitters spend an afternoon with children at Parcyrhun School to celebrate Make a Difference Day. It was one of the events which took part across the UK for the day which celebrates volunteering. People from all walks of life have the opportunity to try out volunteering including charities, schools, community groups, universities, businesses, and individuals. Last year an estimated 70,000 people across the UK took part. The event at Parcyrhun was organised with the aim of creating intergenerational opportunities for older people to share their skills with the children. Nancy Jones of Parcyrhun said: “It’s lovely to see how the children can pick up new skills. I was brought up being shown by my mother how to knit, but through generations these skills are being lost.
