Praise for sister’s work with dementia patients
A nursing sister from Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, got to the final of a national award for her work with patients with dementia. Lisa Marshall from Ward 8 got to the final of the Best Dementia Registered Nurse in the National Dementia Care Awards. On her ward and throughout the hospital Lisa was nominated for modelling excellent examples of dementia care for her members of staff and she has received many letters of commendation from dementia patients. She has also been instrumental in helping to promote and champion improving dementia care within the hospital. For example with the Butterfly Scheme she volunteered her own time, on numerous occasions, to help establish the scheme. The Butterfly scheme helps all staff, even those, who may only have a brief day to day contact with a patient with dementia, to be more aware of their needs and how to address those needs.
