She has also been instrumental in helping to promote and champion improving dementia care within the hospital.
For example with the Butterfly Scheme she volunteered her own time, on numerous occasions, to help establish the scheme.
The Butterfly scheme helps all staff, even those, who may only have a brief day to day contact with a patient with dementia, to be more aware of their needs and how to address those needs.
Dementia Co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire, Tom Alexander, said: “Lisa has shown levels of passion, care and dedication with regard to dementia that have gone above and far beyond her role as a nurse.
“She is undertaking a part-time Master’s Degree in Dementia at Stirling University and has set up a local dementia café, in her own time, organising and pulling together support from the church, local authority, general public and hospital to successfully achieve this.
“Such passion is rare and Pembrokeshire is proud to have Lisa as a shining example of what dedication and commitment to improving dementia care can achieve.”
