Search for new member for Carmarthenshire County Council’s Standards Committee

Members of the public are being encouraged to apply for a position on Carmarthenshire County Council’s Standards Committee. The council is looking to appoint a new independent member of the committee, which has general responsibility for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by members of the county council and community and town councils, and for assisting them to observe their code of conduct. The committee comprises three county councillors, one community member and five independent members. The post receives an allowance of £99-198 per meeting, depending on duration, plus certain expenses. Members will serve for up to six years. The term independent simply means independent of the council, and does not denote membership of any political party, although Welsh Government rules restrict the ability of current and former officers or members of the council and similar public sector bodies to fill the role. New Independent Member role for Physio Adam Morgan

Adam Morgan has been appointed to the post of Independent Member (Trade Unions representative) for a period of two years with Hywel Dda University Health Board. Adam joined the Board as an Independent Member from 1 April 2016. Adam qualified from Cardiff University in 2011 and has been employed by the Health Board for the past 4½ years as a specialist acute inpatient physiotherapist. In his time with the Health Board he has completed a post graduate qualification and, more recently, an advanced practice module. Adam has served as a union representative for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for the past three years and has extensive knowledge of trade union duties, policies, processes, representing members and of nationwide issues and is a regular participant at the staff partnership forum. Judith Hardisty has been appointed to the post of Independent Member for a period of two years with Hywel Dda University Health Board. Judith joins the University Health Board as a former NHS Assistant Chief Executive (Organisational Development) and an experienced HR/ Workforce Director. Judith has more than 20 years’ experience of working at Board level with various NHS bodies and over 40 years’ NHS experience across all sectors. She has an excellent record of leading organisational change and developing workforce and organisational development strategies. She also has a strong record of establishing and leading effective HR teams ensuring engagement at all levels of the organisation and developing and maintaining partnership working relationships with professionals and trade unions. Judith retired from the NHS in December 2015 and is currently an external assessor for the Corporate Health Standard and a lay reviewer for Health Inspectorate Wales.
