Graduation ceremonies start at Aberystwyth University

Aberystwyth University’s Graduation Ceremonies, which commence today (Tuesday 10 July), will see around 2,180 students graduate this week. The ceremonies take place at Aberystwyth’s Arts Centre from Tuesday 10 until Friday 13 July. Aberystwyth University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor April McMahon, said: “I would like to congratulate all those who are graduating from Aberystwyth University this week – this is a very important time and in many ways, the highlight of our university year. “This will be a very special day for me as it will be my first Graduation Ceremony as Vice Chancellor, and I look forward to addressing each and every graduate and to wishing them well in the future.” Sir Emyr Jones Parry, President of Aberystwyth University, added, “This is a very special time for us all. Seven Fellows honoured by Aberystwyth University

Seven Fellows will be honoured by Aberystwyth University during the 2011 Graduation Ceremonies which take place this week. The title of Fellow is awarded to honour distinguished people who have a close association with Aberystwyth University or who have made an outstanding contribution to professional or public life in Wales. The 2011 Honorary Fellows (in order of presentation): Robert Peston: Business Editor of the BBC; Founder of ‘Speakers for Schools’. Mr Peston will be presented by Mr Nicholas Perdikis, Director of the Aberystwyth School of Management and Business, at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday 12 July. Professor Mary Elizabeth King: Former Aberystwyth University student; Author; Civil Rights and Gender Activist; US Presidential Advisor.
