BBC News - Three treated for carbon monoxide poisoning in Llanelli Three people have been treated for carbon monoxide poisoning at a property in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. One man was found unconscious outside the flat at Station Road just after 04:00 GMT on Sunday.

The cumulative impact of licensed premises in Llanelli’s Station Road may soon be taken into account when new licensing applications are made. Carmarthenshire County Council’s licensing committee recently carried out a review into whether it needs a policy on the impact of the large number of licensed premises in Llanelli’s Station Road. The licensing committee has recommended adopting a cumulative impact policy for the section of Station Road between its junction with Queen Victoria Road and the railway crossing. A final decision is due to be made by full Council in March. The committee recommended that the policy should apply to takeaways as well as premises authorised or seeking to be authorised to sell alcohol for consumption both off and on the premises. There would also be an assessment of the need to apply such a policy to the remaining portion of Station Road and the surrounding streets as part of the consultation to be undertaken when the Licensing Policy is next reviewed. ...

Carmarthenshire County Council is carrying out a review into whether it needs a policy on the impact of the large number of licensed premises in Llanelli’s Station Road. The Licensing Policy Review into a Cumulative Impact Policy for Station Road runs until December 31. When the council’s policy on the cumulative impact of licensed premises was adopted in January 2010, it was resolved that a further consultation would be undertaken regarding the adoption of a cumulative impact policy in respect of the Station Road area of Llanelli. The current consultation is an opportunity for local residents, businesses, existing licence holders and their representatives to formally comment on the proposal and provide feedback to the authority. The proposed cumulative impact area extends from the railway crossing adjacent to the Llanelli Railway Station along the whole length of Station Road to its junction with John Street. This has kindly been sent to me by Jude Rogers, who was (once upon a time) our Saturday/Holiday helper in the Star newsroom in the old offices in Station Road, Llanelli. She started out at as a work experience helper, but developed into much, much more. Today, Jude Rogers is a columnist and music writer for The Guardian, Observer, The Word and the New Statesman. Basically, she is doing the things I wish I'd done 30 years ago . . . In the picture, we have Vicky Caig (now Douch), someone who looks like a younger version of the once-upon-a-time editor of the Llanelli Star, and Jude Rogers. It's a classic!
