Bronglais Hospital’s Pathology Department moves into new state of the art facilities
Another chapter of Bronglais Hospital’s Front of House scheme is complete with the Pathology Department moving into new state of the art facilities. As part of this change, the Biochemistry and Haematology Laboratories have merged to provide a single Blood Sciences facility. Whilst this concept is common in many hospitals, as a new build, this was the first such to be purpose built within Wales. The adjacent Public Health Wales Microbiology Laboratory enables a single specimen reception to serve all laboratory areas, thus reducing much previous duplication. The departments, previously located at opposite ends of the hospital complex, are now co-located in the main hospital, adjacent to the CT scanner. New equipment is expected in the coming months, further developing pathology services at the site.
