Additional works are being carried out at Llandeilo’s Municipal Offices to accommodate a new reception area and the library. The alterations, more complex than originally anticipated, are expected to be completed by early December. During this time the building will be closed to the public for the necessary works to take place. The library will be moving from its existing premises across the car park; a new reception area will be created and a new self-service payment kiosk will also be installed. Customers will be able to use the kiosk to pay their council tax, rent, business rates and invoices etc. It will accept payment by cash, debit / credit card and cheque. Unfortunately, there will be no public access to the building while the works are being carried out. Work is now underway on a new office development located near Carmarthen’s popular retail hub  St Catherine’s Walk . Local development company, Hacer Developments Ltd, is breathing new life into the former Nolan Windows site in Carmarthen town centre with support from the South West Wales Property Development Fund (PDF). The South West Wales Property Development Fund has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. Hacer Developments Ltd, a local firm owned by husband and wife Carwyn and Sarah Davies, is constructing a 5000 sq ft three storey office building on Merlin Street, Carmarthen. The development is receiving £400,000 of funding from the PDF and when complete will have the potential to accommodate 17 jobs. The development will be completed in March 2015. Carmarthenshire County Council has taken over the former Technium Performance Engineering Facility at Dafen, Llanelli. The local authority has been assigned the lease by the Welsh Government. The move follows negotiations between the council and Welsh Government. The authority’s executive board recently approved a proposal to enter into a five-year lease of the entire office and industrial facility. The lease will also include an option to purchase the facility. The main building comprises 16 office units which vary in size up to 1,700 sq ft and an additional six units to the rear of the main block which are also available to lease. A high quality office development on the edge of Llanelli town centre has been officially opened and described as an important asset for the business community and a boost for the local economy. Carmarthenshire County Council leader Cllr Meryl Gravell said that the £1million West End Yard development would help meet the local demand for modern high specification office accommodation and would greatly contribute to the work currently underway to regenerate Llanelli town centre. The suite of six offices, developed by the Means Renewal Limited, a company set up by two local businessmen Peter Williams and Paul Silcox, was supported by a Property Development Grant from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government.
