Carmarthenshire students through to finals of the Swansea Bay Young Business Dragons event

Students from two Carmarthenshire schools are through to the finals of the Swansea Bay Young Business Dragons. The teams from S t John Lloyd Catholic Comprehensive and Bryngwyn School in Llanelli will take on teams from Swansea and Neath Port Talbot in the Dragon’s Den style final of the entrepreneurial business challenge on Wednesday November 19 at the Marriott Hotel in Swansea. The semi final of the Young Business Dragon’s competition was held at the Halliwell Centre, Trinity St David’s Carmarthen, when both teams gave presentations on products on the theme of the Smart Home. In teams of up to eight students the challenge was to design ‘a smart innovative product for the home.’ The St John Lloyd team was supported by business mentor Mel Best and Bryngwyn by mentor Jamie Best. Mr and Mrs Best are the directors of Melin Consultants, based at The Beacon business centre in Dafen, Llanelli. Students from two Carmarthenshire schools are through to the finals of the Swansea Bay Young Business Dragons. The teams from St John Lloyd Catholic Comprehensive and Bryngwyn School in Llanelli will take on teams from Olchfa Comprehensive School and Bishop Vaughan Catholic School in Swansea, and Dyffryn Comprehensive School and St Joseph’s Roman Catholic School in Neath Port Talbot in the Dragon’s Den style final of the entrepreneurial business challenge this Thursday. They go through from the semi finals held at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, last month. The Year 10 students will be putting forward Olympic-inspired business ideas to a panel of top business figures at Margam Orangery. The winning team and business idea will scoop £1,000 prize money and the coveted title of Swansea Bay Young Business Dragons 2011. Six in final of Young Business Dragons event

Students from six schools across the Swansea Bay area are limbering up as they prepare to pitch their Olympic-inspired business ideas to a panel of top business figures after landing a place in the grand final of the Swansea Bay Young Business Dragons. Students from the winning Year 10 teams from Olchfa Comprehensive School and Bishop Vaughan Catholic School in Swansea, St John Lloyd Catholic Comprehensive School and Bryngwyn Comprehensive School in Carmarthenshire and Dyffryn Comprehensive School and St Joseph’s Roman Catholic School in Neath Port Talbot will now go head-to-head in the Dragon’s Den style final of the entrepreneurial business challenge on the 17th November.
