Boost for home insulation plans
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Home Improvement Team has linked up with Domestic & General to provide loft and cavity wall insulation for privately owned and rented homes. Domestic & General has committed to work with the council for up to two years. It means that people can take advantage of free or reduced rate insulation to keep their homes warm, with the peace of mind of an approved contractor. Households that benefit from having insulation can typically save around £400 a year on heating costs, as insulation helps to retain heat. In turn, this also helps the environment, as there less carbon dioxide is emitted in to the environment. Tenants and residents may also see their health improve as a result of a warmer home. Studies have shown that living in a cold environment can lead to respiratory conditions, depression and anxiety.
