There's a free concert coming up at Y Ffwrnes theatre in Llanelli. 'Super Sing' is being organised by Llanelli Choral Society in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal. The event will be a fun community sing-a-long and workshop featuring magical moments from musicals, heart-rousing hymns and great classical choruses. There will be expert music leadership from John Hywel Williams MBE and Huw Tregelles Williams OBE. There will be spotlight performances from Llanelli Choral Society, the Hywel Girls’ Choir and Hywel Boy Singers. The Really Big Sing in Llanelli  in aid of BBC Children in Need has sold out at Y Ffwrnes theatre box office. Barbara Thomas, of the Hywel Choir, has a small amount of remaining tickets which are being sold on a first-come first-served basis. Parents and friends in need of tickets are recommended urgently to contact Barbara Thomas for tickets for this unique event to be held on Saturday, September 14, at Y Ffwrnes and will feature the Hywel Girls' Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, the giant sound of the 200 Voice Great Welsh Male Chorus, Burry Port Town Band and soprano Adele O'Neil, organist Huw Tregelles Williams - all under the direction of John Hywel Williams and conductor Ryan Lee. If you love to sing, then this will be music to your ears. A series of workshops and open rehearsals will be held at the start of May for children who enjoy singing. On Sunday 12 May, the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers will present “SING UP!” at Y Ffwrnes theatre's Studio Stepney in Llanelli. The event will feature a vocal and rhythm workshop featuring percussionists from the National Orchestra of Wales together with the press launch of the Trans-Continental Teddy Tour Challenge in aid of BBC Children in Need. On Monday 13 May, the Hywel Choir will sponsor “Got Rhythm! Got Voice!” – a series of educational workshops for local primary schools focused on music, singing and percussion to be held at Studio Stepney, Y Ffwrnes, Llanelli. The workshops will even include percussion performances including a unique percussion piece played on basket balls. A ground-breaking theatre performance group will be opening its doors in Llanelli on Tuesday, March 12. Called ‘InterAct’, the group will give disadvantaged youngsters and children with learning difficulties the chance to enjoy drama, dance and singing workshops. “It really is an innovative venture designed to help children into theatre-based activities,” said Liane Davies (pictured above), one of the co-founders of the Llanelli venture. “InterAct is gradually developing in other parts of the UK, but this will be the very first InterAct group in Wales, right here in Llanelli. “And it’s going to be based at the brand new state-of-the-art Y Ffwrnes theatre in Llanelli.” The foundation stones for InterAct have been laid by the Stagecoach Charitable Trust, a wing of the hugely-successful Stagecoach theatre arts group. The choir will be joining celebrated Welsh tenor Wynne Evans on stage for a show which is likely to be broadcast on St David's Day. Further details of the TV programme will be released later. But guest stars will include top Welsh comedian Owen Money and West End singing sensation Sophie Evans.
