Boost for West Wales adult care
Recent figures have revealed that a record number of respite nights are being provided for adults with care needs in West Wales. Between July and September 2011, a record 1,178 respite nights were provided by Adult Placement carers, compared to 966 for the same period in the previous year. The West Wales Adult Placement Service provides home-based supported living arrangements and respite provision for vulnerable adults in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Following strategic investment in the service and a pro-active recruitment campaign, there are now over 100 Adult Placement Carers across the west Wales region, providing a range of service placements and opportunities for around the same number of service users.
