New specialist clinic for patients in the Cardigan area

A healthcare clinic, provided by specialist doctors visiting from Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, is just one of the new services available for patients in the Cardigan area, heard stakeholders and members of the public at the latest meeting and drop-in session. For the first time, a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) specialist clinic is taking place every three months in Cardigan Hospital. It provides a local, community based service to support symptom management of the disease, which attacks the motor neurones and can affect mobility, speech and more. Reassurance on Amman Valley GP services

Hywel Dda University Health Board is reassuring local people in the upper Amman Valley that they will continue to receive local access to GP services, despite any changes in providers. The UHB added that speculation about ‘super surgeries’ and doctor patient ratios were unhelpful as no decisions have been made and any contract would only be awarded on the basis of appropriate clinical staffing levels being demonstrated. Proposals would also need to maintain or improve on current levels of access for patients. ABMU (Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University) health board has gone through an open tender process for provision of general medical services in the Cwmlynfell and Ystralyfera area. Appointment of independent members to Local Health Boards

Hywel Dda Health Board | Appointment of Independent Member to Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University and Hywel Dda Local Health Boards Health Minister Lesley Griffiths announced the appointment of Chantal Patel and Mike Ponton as independent members to the boards of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Local Health Board and Hywel Dda Local Health Board, respectively. Both appointments are for a four-year term ending on 31 March 2016. Chantal Patel will receive a remuneration of £15,936 per annum for a time commitment of four days a month. Mike Ponton will receive a remuneration of £13,344 per annum for a time commitment of four days a month.
